Azar B-Nejad

BSC (Nutr & Food Science) PGradDip Dietetics

Azar completed her studies in Nutrition and Food Science in 2004 at Curtin University, WA. She then worked in public health for 5 years, working with local councils, schools and community groups focussing on nutrition, primary prevention and management of chronic diseases. Azar went on to complete her Post Graduate Masters in Clinical Dietetics at Curtin University and began working in the hospital setting. She now has more than12 years experience in both adult and paediatric dietetics at WA’s top hospitals, including Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital.

Azar has significant international experience having worked in the Children’s and Women’s Hospital in British Colombia, Canada, where she also furthered her experience in eating disorders working at residential facility for young adults with eating disorders.

During her career Azar has worked with a wide variety of gastrointestinal and general surgery patients including inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, functional gastrointestinal problems (e.g. IBS, dysmotility and gastroparesis), upper and lower GI surgeries, stomas, as well as patients with intestinal failure. Azar is passionate about supporting people who live with gastrointestinal disorders to live a healthy lifestyle and manage their medical conditions with dietary support.

Fees:

  • Initial appointment (45 minutes) $190
  • Review appointment (25 minutes) $120

Rebates:

  • Medicare – A rebate of $58 is available from Medicare if a Chronic Disease Management Plan is issued by your GP.
  • Private Health Fund – Most private health funds provide rebate on dietetic appointments. However, the rebate amount depends on your level of cover. Please contact your health fund to determine your entitled rebate.

DVA – Approved provider for DVA services. Patients with a gold card have no out of pocket expense as DVA covers the cost of your visit to an APD.
